I have a couple of standard 1994 - 225 Promaxs.
They run fine, compression etc is good.
How reliable are the ECUs for engines this old.
Do they play up and are they worth fixing.
I also have all the necessary parts to convert them to carbs. (WMH 16 and 21).
Are the recirc. lines required for them to work with carbs.
Will they run without them.
How many Promaxs are out there running carbs.

I cant speak on the ECU but you definitely want the bleed lines if youre running carbs. 225 PM doesnt have nipples in the cylinders though right?

Keep it EFI. If you want more performance, swap out the plastic cadge bearings and 40 amp electrics for 16 amp and get a brucato box which you can have any limiter put in and let it spin up!

The promax motors will run better all around with the efi,as they have no recirculation systems and the 7 petal reeds don't supply as snappy a signal to the carbs,so idle and trolling speeds suffer and tend to load up with oil,not much if any difference from midrange to WOT.As to the computers, they are quite reliable...mechanics will tell you they have problems, just like doctors say everyone is sick,Chris
