I disconnected the oil lines from my remote tank in order to get my tank out of the boat. Had to clean up some spilled oil. 2019 300XS.

Am I safe to just remove the cap on the engine oil tank and run the motor to purge air from the system? Or do I need to follow a more in depth procedure? I've read about shifting in and out of gear a few times or some sort of process to prime the system.

On my 200xs when ever I unscrew the tank fill - in the boat - very similar to removing hoses - I start and run while venting res, cap .- as you already have stated - tighten when full - Monitor - 3 beeps is a warning of oil res, level I believe .
Hope that helps

Thank you. I'm thinking that's all I need to do. No more than a couple tablespoons at most ran out of the lines while they were disconnected. So oil system on engine itself should still be primed.
