Recently purchased a HS VL-485. Was looking for some knowledge on best prop and jack plate. Any info on the motor would be greatly appreciated. It has a 200 mariner on it with a quicksilver 48-11078A40 25 p 3 blade prop on it now. Serial number is 6625925. I have read it’s a pre 1989 because the 2 piece cowl and it’s a 2.4. Has the 2 piece heads. Looking at upgrading for performance this winter so open to all suggestions. Thanks

Welcome to this site

What trim does it have? Pump inside the boat or is it integral with the transom clamps?
Pictures help a lot so we can all see what you have and where you may be able to improve.

The trim is integrated in the transom clamp. First bass boat. Had stump thumping John boats. I can send some pics when I get home. I have been rewiring and restoring it on afternoons when not fishing.

Integral trim means its 1986, or like 1985 1/2, and later. 2 pc cowl, its pre 1989. So somewhere in there. Good strong motors IMO. I had one up to 90 mph and I am sure others go faster.
