Anything to be concerned about cruising around all day with a 260?

Other than knowing where every possible fuel spot is, no. :D

Did it for years, just vary the throttle a bit. Not sure what your version of cruising is, bit I would just bounce between 40-50. In between 90-100 squirts. Maybe that had something to do with the fuel stops. :D

Cruising for me is exactly like that. Fast enough so theres no porpoise but slow enough to one hand not on the pad type thing. Yes each time out at least one good romp. Im building a big tank lol

I love cruising at 6000rpm (80mph) in a 1ft chop into the wind, 27 gallon tank helps...but not a lot.:)

Is the 16amp enough to run the fuel pump/injection all day? Radio?

Well it could be worse. At least you don't have a V8 Johnson. I used to cruise around with that on a big checkmate it would suck a 50 gallon tank drying about an hour and a half

I never had a problem using mine all day skiing/ sandbar hopping. Would take a slight charge that night. I never had a radio. I would just get an extra small lithium battery to run that at a total loss, and charge it at night. If I just ran like normal, only cranking a couple times a day with long runs, my battery wouldn't even need a charge.

I would run mine all day, no stereo. Start and stop maybe 10 to 12 times a day. Give it a little charge at night for the next day of service. I carry one of those tiny high powered engine starters just in case.

I’ve used it to jumpstart other boaters but never for my boat.

Good info thanks all. How thirsty are these things compared to a 200efi?

Night and day, depends on how high you turn them, drag racing a 260 1/4 mile we would read the ecu after the race and 10,000 was a good day.

Now If you keep them below 6,000 different story.

Under full jam I get that its going to consume a ton more fuel but cruising around <50? My thinking is how much worse could it be?

If you’re going to go cruising around run a big prop keep the RPM down.

my 79 cvz19 with full tank and load for the day would run nice at 4000-4500rpm at around 40-50 on the river thats with a 93 260osr and 26p trophyplus prop

Second this thought!!!
Play all day with a few extra gal of fuel and a bigger prop......just keep an extra handy in case someone calls you out. At least that's how I learned to play on GSB long island

I haven't run a 200 efi but I didn't notice that much difference between my 225 pro maxes and my 280. Maybe 15%.

300 promax was a different story. Seemed I could burn down 25 gallons in an hour and a half not even running real hard. In no way suitable for any longer river runs without carrying fuel.
