Morning Guys, just pulled the boat out of winter hibernation this weekend and making some upgrades before it goes in the water next week or two.
I removed the Advance Module and wires, (white/blk & Red/white), what do I do with the two ends that come from the switch box?
Leave them, or connect them together?
thanks in advance...

Connect the two with a jumper wire

# 11 is short white/black "jumper" between bias post on both boxes.......

So in looking at the wiring diagram for a mid 90's 200 Carb, it appears that wire (#11) is already in place between the inner and outer boxes with one wire from the advance module going where #11 wire connects on the outer switchbox and the second wire from the module (red/white) goes to the 4th terminal on the outer switchbox with the red/white that comes from the stator.

in some threads it states that a jumper is needed, just wanted to be certain in my case, it's not. It's very hard to put the smoke in a switchbox, but very easy to let it out......measure twice, cut once is good practice.
thanks for the info.

some actually have tha "short" jumper.. some do not but.. they will have a white/black on each box that disappear into a plastic sleeve and make a joint thats not visible and exit tha sleeve as one going to tha module.. every (merc) switch box motor has tha same switch box wiring even though some may "look" a little different they are not...........

some will have an "extra" wire on some studs for different reasons, ie: ecu's, rotation sensor for oilers etc but basic wiring, stator, trigger, coils is still all tha same on all of 'em..

now I see where the confusion is, if you remove the style that join in the sleeve you have lost the bias connection......thanks for the explanation.

So tonight I started to set the timing. I removed all the plugs and using my JSRE dial indicator, I followed the instructions rotating the engine clockwise to find TDC and set the pointer at zero.
When I attempted to rotate the engine counterclockwise it has resistance, to the point of being kind of spring loaded as I kept trying to get it to 150 and couldn't get it to stay.
Engine is in neutral and spins smoothly clockwise, all I can think is the water pump impeller is what's causing this to happen?
