225 Promax Fuel system

Hi there,
Im just installing a 225 promax onto my boat. Im currently running a quicksilver separating filter before the engine. On the promax it has a filter on the side of the motor but nothing inline before the diaphragm pump. Would it be ok to still run through my merc filter before hand to stop any dirt going through the diaphragm pump?

The filter on the motor is a water separating filter, no need to have another.
