Awhile back I thought their was a picture of a new V8 4 stroke powerhead that had a custom midsection and looked like it used a 3 liter sportmaster. I want to say it was a CRT project but might be mistaking. Does anyone still have the picture of any info on this? Thanks!

Unfortunately, it's imagineering/vaporware, just like everything else from CRT...
It's going to be very tough to shift a conventional case under a V8 or V6 due to space, and Im guessing it makes it worse with a short mid.

What’s the goal, anyway?

No particular goal on my end. Their was a 250 pro xs 4 stroke local to me that hit a log and destroyed the lower and midsection. It was forsale at a reasonable price and I have a spare 3 liter sporty and thought I remembered seeing an aftermarket mid that put them together.
Like HydroSkreamin noted it doesn't look promising.

I can totally understand your motive.
My guess is your best bet is going to be trying to find a 1.75 300R case someone doesn't want, and turn your 3L sporty into cash. The used 250R/300R450R case situation is tough.
Good luck!

The 300r V8 on a offshore mid and 3L sporty is in this photo I took at LOTO Shootout. Sorry I didn't get a better photo. It was at the CRT both alone in a gravel parking lot, kinda like a yard sale. There was no brochures, pamphlets, or information on anything what was there. Kinda sad.....
