I have a 95 2.5 245 carb and was told by the previous owner it had rev limiters. I forget the exact figure but as I recall it was a shade over 7000.
I believe this is the third time this question has been asked and it has never been answered. Carb motors do have a 5800 rev limiter. I dont know what year they started. I have heard it is in the module and starts retarding timing somehow, but dont quote me. Somebody must know how to overcome this.

Leo is right, I looked in a mercury manual and it does do somthing to the timing and somthing about cutting power to the coils, each at different times

I believe this all started in the year 2000 with the new electronics

to get rid of rev limiter you trade it for a 300 pm shawn and then you dont worry about the revs because you will be going fast enough, just kidding, but it looks like no one knows how to get rid of it, so I thought I would bring it to the top again, Matt:eek:

I thought it was like the old motors where you remove the timing module and raise the time manually a couple degrees.
