went out last night... everything running great. Stopped at my spot and decided to leave. Upon leaving I got up on plane then there was some surging. I backed off throttle, seemed to run fine at idle. Sounded like a few cylinders were dropping. Gunned it again, got on plane then same thing. Backed off, idled(maybe just off idle) home. On the way home I could see balls of light under the water. No extra noises from the motor. I was thinking at the time that I may have lost a bearing due to the fireworks under the water. Got home.. checked compression... 150 psi on all 4. So then I am thinking powerpack, pickup, spark. So I check spark.. got it on all 4. Bright spark. Run motor in driveway to flush and wait til this morning.

Turn over motor, hit primer with plugs out. Fuel coming out of 1 and 3, nothing out of 2&4... I have 2 vaccum plugs on the port side. Insert gauge, turn over. I have pressure, but no vaccum on 2&4(fittings are behind the reeds, closer to the crank). I don't have fittings drilled for the starboard side, so I can't check it.

How can I troubleshoot this from here without pulling the powerhead? Think I lost a seal ring? I don't think it was a case sealing problem since I was quite anal about sealing it in the first place. I have ran 60 gallons through her since the rebuild.

I am thinking the 2nd seal ring up from the bottom. If that one was leaking, would it have these symptoms? cyl. 2 would leak into 4 and there leaking to one another?

If I blow air into the #2 vaccum nozzle air is coming out the #4 carb throat... wtf... also.. I removed the carbs and put hand over carb throat. I am getting some suck on 2 and 4, but not as much as 1 and 3.

ideas?

I guess it's time to port the mofo. It's on my workbench now..Should know what happened in a few hours.

piece of "spagetti" about 1/18" blew out in-between 3&4. Maybe something got in there on assembly.

It's all apart now. Does anyone have the specs to port this to 140?
