hey George... even though I'm a Ford guy, I looked closely at the 3 SS version tucks that GM had on display last week on HRM's Power Tour.

Really liked the Silverado P/U and the Tahoe... big wheel/tire combos, blacked out paint schemes, cool NASCAR inspired air ducts in the front air dam, slightly modified engines with headers, upgraded ECM programing, corvette cylinder heads... the silver Trailblazer was OK too but just not for me.... I looked at the sticker prices, can't remember for sure but it think it was about $40K or so for the truck...

GM had some really neat stuff on display. Probably had about 10 or so vehicles including the Chevy SSR, an LS1 70 SS Chevelle, a new Pontiac TA with a 421 ci engine done up like an original 70 T/A model... camaros, monte carlos, vettes.... a 4 door S10 dually with a Vortec V8... mostly stuff that has escaped from GM's engineering department without being crushed...

2004 F150 Lightning. It'll blow everything away even with your boat attached. 500hp out of the box.http://www.gearheadracing.com/CAR%20Pictures/2004LightningPix/2004Lightning02.jpg

I'm Chevy all the way but they missed the mark on this one, try lighting the tires up on one of the new ss's with all wheel drive it's not going to happen, kinda takes the fun out of owing a ss, I had a 1990 ss 454, it ran like a raped date.

I had a chance to ride in a SVT Lightning, this one with minor mods like a chip, and belts and air filter made about 525 horsepower, the acceleration is tremendous and top speed is really fast, it has a ton of power and looks SWEET the only Ford id buy, looked at a SS and would take the Lightnihg over it anyday just my .02 cents

It's got the 6.0 litre right. Still looks like it would produce more power than that. If you could find info on the Thunder edition Silverado it was producing 442 hp with just a whipple charger on a 5.3 and exhaust mods. Hell if I do anything I'll get a Whipple charger for mine.

But up in the cold north, it's a toy just like a boat. The SS Chevy makes much more sense as a daily driver. Got cash?? Buy a Lightning for summer, run the SS as your winter beater!

Need something that does everything well, but is master of none? Here you go :D
