Has anyone seen the seal on the crankcase blow out on 2.6 GT above all 6 bypass covers ? Not the bypass cover gasket the jell seal used to seal the block.

Yea, mine did. It only did it in a couple of places. I am not sure, but I think the sealer was bad. Any one know what the shelf life on anaerobic sealer is? I sealed her back up with new sealer and have had no problems since.
Still got the Starcraft?

Hey Paul
I'm almost positive the sealer was ok , the idle jets were so lean it was poping at the carbs. Fixed the lean idle , and the backfire stoped.
Do you think that might have caused the seal to blow ?

I'm not so sure the sneezing would cause it, but not saying it would not. Mine was not sneezing. I was using synergyn oil in it at the time. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it was leaking between the cases and oil was everywhere. If you had a sneezing problem and fiber reeds, you might want to look at them too while you are in there. Clean the surfaces with mineral spirts or some kind of solvent to make sure all traces of oil are gone from the mating surfaces.

I'll bet it wasn't Locktite's. Don't believe a hand grenade inside the crankcase will blow theirs out. The only time I've ever had a gel seal problem was last year when I used some ProSeal stuff I had handy because I was too lazy to walk out to may service van to get a new tube of Locktite. Withing 10 hours it leaked. When I pulled the halves apart, the stuff felt like it was still wet and just wiped right off with one little spraying of brake cleaner. Won't never be that lazy again.

I've used the same sealer on many different eng. for years and never had a problem with it. I made sure the case was super clean & flat . I hope it was caused from lean pilot , just finished eng. assembly with same sealer

My first try was with the locktite. 742 or something like that. It was a couple of years old. I put some new stuff on it last time.....
I'll have to check locktite and see if there is a shelf life.
