Hi!,

At last I have the possibility to order a V8 450R for my ol Phantom 25. Being a festival promoter has not been easy the last year.. Totally lock down.

The 400R has been a fantastic engine, but this season is the last with warranty.

The 450R has been on the market for a while now. Any issues you know about?

Thanks!

Cheers Toffen

Get it coming....They are a long way out on production at this point so if you can find one that someone has is stock you should grab it.

Track down this guy and ask him how his 450 has been ..........

I can get you his phone number if you want to talk to him. I think he is in the process of swapping to a lower volume helm so that he can give more input from the wheel without the boat over reacting. The last I heard he was running 104 at 5300 (lots to go when he gets it figured out).

He asked if there were any ISSUES with the 450 porkies. :)

Someone either answer him honesty ..

Or put him in touch with an honest wty claims clerk ...

Anything else is .... well , :icon_bs:

Hi!

Thanks :) Its approx 9 months to get one in Norway, so I will order soon for the engine to be delivered in the new year ....

As far I have read the 450R is a strong well constructed engine. The propshaft issues also been solved?

Cheeers, Toffen

Not on Liberator's

Would think you need to ask your dealer If he will cover you If It happens to You.

See if they can make a shaft of Kryptonite:cheers:

No propshaft issues with the SM 400R on my Phantom 25. I run the propshaft 2 inches above the bottom. Max5 25 prop :)

I thought it was the 300r that had propshaft issues and the 450r was good??? The 21 liberator running over here by me (300r) went through 3 propshafts before he got a good one. Looking ant the P/Ns the shafts are the same between the 300r and the 450r in the 1.60 sporty. Bearings are the same too.

Did merc change this cause I only see one serial number range on mercnet...

As far as the options on your phantom 25...I doubt you will be able to run a 450r as high as your 400r cause they like to loose water pressure a little sooner...depends on how close you are to the w/p max height right now, but 2" seems high. What kind of setback do you have?

Good points 25. Also will the super narrow beam Phantom like the top heavy 450R.

Thanks :)

I have 25 psi at 2 inches above the bottom. I think I can go 0,5 inches higher, but my jackplate does not allow that.

I have added 8 inches notch to the bottom + 4,5 inches jackplate. in all 12,5 inches setback.

I also heard about the water pressure issues, but people from NorTech tells me that they can run 450R as high as 400R. Just a half inch makes a great deal in speed.

Cheers, Toffen
