Fun little project.
This will be pushing my little seebold tunnel around.
Never worked on any OMC stuff. Going to run a Crossflow V4.
Mercury transom up/down assembly with trim thru the transom.
Racing OMC stuff is hard to find. I do have a connection for the real OMC
stuff but going to finish this first then see about the other stuff.

...those black parts just simply touching those "other" parts, should be good for an additional 10 mph alone...;)...

Seems to fit just fine. Bit of transom work. Should be good.

Yeah but you’ll have to change your hour meter to a minute meter.

FUJIMO,
Yes I cut the mid. You can see it fixtured up in the first set of pics on the welding table.
Its still just tacked together until I fit it all up. Im building a wing plate holder to go in/on the can also.
Aluminum Oxide media in the blast cabinet. Its what I use to do all the gun barrel prep before Cerakote.

If you look at a Taylor mid, they have tabs cast into both sides for wing plate mounts.
Id think you could do same.
Fit a pc of 1/2” alum bar to the sides and just run a beed around it?

Going to try and machine a plate recessed into the can that sticks out the sides to bolt the wings to that 6 of the engine studs pass thru.
Trying to keep the welding to a minimum.

...thats actually the same way bob latham designed his early standard merc v-6 plates many years ago. plate(s) bolted to plate(s). its the only way sometimes with stock/standard mids. agree with as little welding as possible, as it births weak points on cast stuff...

...no, your right...the rotating assembly part here isn't black, so the minute meter "would" be more apropos. ding ding ding...;)

lol..
I was glad to see that stuff put to good use. The up/down came from Australia via Italy.. So some of that has a history.

That is not true .. :nonod:
However you have to be just a little bit smarter than what your working with .. ;)

Billet machined parts win over welding every time at my shop.
With that said we weld on average 50 hours a week also.
Fun little project either way. Will be a blast to run.

Not gonna post a thousand pics on your thread --->
A head that get's peppered .. gonna cut a new set of billets :nonod:
Swivel bracket for a 15" can ... carve a new one :nonod:
Front half gets a window .. makin a new front half :nonod:
Block splits a sleeve register .. new billet block :nonod:
What I said to Fugi was .. just gotta be smarter than what your workin with ..;)
Chaz = I make puddles and "chips" every day .. :smiletest:
Nice project .. carry on

Yes sir. I guess I was referring more to parts in general not so much just Outboard parts.
I couldn’t find the instruction manual on how to do this so I’m just seeing what works.
I love doing stuff like this.

Dude, I listen to everyone smarter than me then, do WTF I want anyhow.
It either works or it doesn’t and sometimes you don’t know until you try.
I will say though, when gambling, I’m right more than I’m wrong and love the challenge of trying something different .
Still want to build a hot rod 5 banger Force

Great read Dago. Keep it coming. Very interesting to see it come about. You are talented in your machining. I do a little of it. And it gives me a greater appreciation for those that make pieces like that.

Nice stuff and that should work. Another way is just carve a whole new exhaust adapter which can also be half as thick as the stocker. Make the top mounts/clamp to the swivel any way you want.
