View Full Version : Marinas/Boat Storage Sarasota area?

I'm fleeing Blue Jersey back to America. Where in the free state of Sarisota Florida is a good marina or place to store my 31 ft boat? I called Hidden Harbor and Marine Maxx, both are full. I have bottom paint so I could do in water. I'm going to be renting a home for the first year till we find the perfect place. With all the HOAs down there I don't know if we will buy a place that allows the boat or perpaps I'm at the point in life where I just want the Marina to handle everything.
Suggestions?

Me too, week of 27th. Renting first year. Trying to get a rental house. West coast is so much nicer if you ask me. I like calm water.

I’m partial to east coast. I feel that the Florida market is going to continue to accelerate which is only reason I would consider buying now. Ideally I would like to rent for awhile.

Smart move!
Hard time to purchase right now due to the mad rush, influx and inventory. I'm sure you have found that out already.
I have lived on the East Coast for well over 15 years and should be down for good shortly!
I'm completely done with all the nonsense up here, filth and high taxes!
Good Luck!

Too late to worry about the northener's hurting fla 282. it's been ruined for a long time now. Local traffic is so crazy that you can't go out at certain times. Interstates are becoming parking lots with all the delays from car crashes.. Food places and bars are crammed to the roof, waiting in line is just part of the wonderful dining experience. Boating is nearly done too, idle zones and cram packed ramps, marina's, once isolated beaches overrun with tourist boats full of europeans. Trash left everywhere. Un friendly and downright rude and nasty people everywhere. It's not worth even coming to fla anymore. It's not just me saying this. I have charter customers that have had houses and condo's for years that are selling out and leaving for places like Arizona and New Mexico. Call someplace paradise, and kiss it good-bye!

I agree about the influx, busyness and traffic currently going on.
Do not agree on on crashes due to Northerners. Remember we have plenty of practice dealing in busyness hustle & bustle plus bad/dangerous weather situations.
Not to mention the important amount of revenues we bring....:D One can say or argue we only bring prices up but it takes $ to make improvements .....;)
What I really see after personally dealing with buying, selling condos and homes plus being a president of a condo association for well over 10 years is the market is currently insane. Again this has helped many Floridians/homestead sell their condos and homes in days, not weeks or months for numbers they could have never dreamed of. Hope it does not cause a crash down there. We have had Canadians and Europeans for as long as I can remember going down.

Traffic causes crashes, people in a hurry driving crazy. North or southerer not the point. A crash can block the Interstate for hours. One everyday.
Yes crackers can sell their homes for insane amounts. Still have to replace it and pay a stupid amount. Moot subject. No net gain.
Crash in property? You know as well as I that's it's a bubble/cycle. Inevitable... Interest going up......Soon. Payments not so low...
I have lived here all my life. So see a different perspective Tux. The place has gone to hell. No fun anymore in town, or the water. Too crowded. Even the everglades is getting overrun since the gps guides newbies around where they were afraid to go years ago.
Have many northern friends, many southern crackers too. Love em all......Just sad to see the destruction all the expansion has caused. BTW I have a place on Longboat Key, it's a mess. And with underground power const. beginning it's gonna get real ugly this summer. Single lane for miles on an island sucks.
Don't forget about Red Tide
80 Species of mosquitoes
Three species of Scorpions
Burmese pythons like 17'7" 164.5 lb. that eat dear, take your wife camping;)
Lightning capital of the US with more deaths than anywhere
MS-13 on every corner
Carjacking's

Vking, I get your point. Always look at things with an open and realistic mind.
I have been going down for many, many years 50+ parents lived there and have seen the changes. Unfortunately it is a way of life in many states now especially when you get tired of getting abused in more ways than one. When you have the option you automatically will look for a place that is also cost affective. Not to mention the cost of retirement.
Cuda, Surprised you still live there...:D Oh you forgot the new welcomed border friends influx coming your local neighborhood......;)
And Water moccasin, rattlesnakes, alligators people driving 15 mph below the speed limit with there heads spinning around like that girl from the Exorcist

I will be following the migration myself...we have a place on the west coast. NJ will always be home but only for the summer months. I am also looking at the end of the month in both North and South Carolina as a possible retirement area and selling jersey and florida. I have some years left to work, but it's good to have a plan. Got to be careful Florida...if NY and NJ keep running to that state we could end up no better than the North east......Liberals like warm weather also:nonod:
Check out Lake Murray in SC. Beautiful big lake. Waterfront homes. Less expensive than waterfront in NC.

Friends that were lifelong fla residents are moving to the Carolina's. I might just do the same...It is a beautiful region. Going up in a few wks. to visit. May check out some land.

Everyone from Northeast is going to Carolina's too. Looks like I'm going to continue to trailer to the boat ramp down there. Marinas are all full, and my 31ft boat is considered 38' with the engines plus a monthly fee for having a RADAR arch. So I need to find a place to store it on the trailer first year or two, we are renting a condo in Palmer Ranch at least this year.

I second this!! I thought there were nasty people and traffic jams on Long Island.....I never saw the likes until I moved to FL. Double the traffic of NY and ill be damned if any of these yuppies will so much as say thank you for holding the door. 9yrs after we moved , neither my wife nor I could take anymore, heading back north for good. I also had the delusion of boating everyday......also not happening unless you can shell out HUGE money for a marina, there are hardly any boat ramps and even fewer parking spaces for such. However, to any northerners thinking of moving down...please do so, id like even less traffic when I get there .
Rant over.

Years ago we went up to the Ocala, Gainesville area thinking we could escape the migration south,
after a few trips we realized we would rather live in the adult Disney World Naples
than the wild, but then I learned about the Lake County area and the St Johns river
with the price of housing being what it is in that area It separates things ;)
I could add to your description but...

Hey - at100, mragu and any others--save yourself a bunch of time and trouble looking at Florida. Florida is full! No room left , no fun. Just mosquitos and alligators. Bodhi and 282 have it right--go elsewhere, or go back home where they do things the way you want anyway.

...florida has always been like this. real estate appreciation is NOT something new at all, for someone buying anything but a shack residentially. bought a home in southeast florida for high 30's in 1966. sold it 7 years later for 72 in one day. you can count the number of slow years of real estate marketing in southeast florida on one hand, versus the economy of everywhere else. i exaggerate a bit, but you get the jest...

Last time I was in Miami it was anything but a quiet utopia. Straight piped ATV's and dirt bikes on the 95 with cops chasing them and the beloved toll booths so you can avoid the congested roads. It is a mess, and do not go anywhere near chrome ave. It is one dangerous road....

I get what you are saying and yes it should tell you something about FL living opposed to the North in many ways.
Having been up&down for the last 40+ years I have personally never seen the purchase frenzy we have been seeing in the last 12 months. As for Miami, years back we owned Sargent Peppers Subs on A1A next door to DMV and saw the changes happing and quickly so we went up North some.

Real estate is headed for a "correction" IMO. When? When the economy drops and interest goes up, people can't make payments. We all have seen the cycle.

...i disagree. at least for the near future anyways. rates are not going to jump that much, that it will shut down the boomers from living where they want to live down here, and everyone else that has the means. most all, as previously mentioned, are paying cash to boot. i believe our economy is going to improve overall as well, in the "near" future...

Would just like to mention that the reason they want to move and can do so in cash is because no matter how high the numbers are down there they are much higher up in many Northern areas so FL housing it is still a bargain/affordable, not to mention personal & property taxes, insurances, government etc.
Prefer not to continue, I could get deeper not worth it. Hope you are right and wish all well.
OH, Let me not forget you can boat all year, save $$ on winterizing and winter storage for your boat......;):D

The market in SW Florida is the best I have seen in my 20 years of selling Real Estate here.
Lots of cash buyers coming from the North East. Buyers paying over asking price. We have
very little inventory from $500K to $1.5M.

I'm noticing Verizon wireless isn't the best in my Condo area, I've been wanting to make the move to a less woke company anyway. Anyone have Puretalk or Patriot Mobile in the Sarasota area? If so how is the coverage and was it easy to port all your phones over to the new service?
