I have never cared for JB since his Save-the-Manatee-Club forces other boaters to travel for hours at idle speed. Buffet also makes an unknown fortune from the DMV's Manatee License tags. He has been in a fight with the Charity Navigators and Better Business Bureau since he refuses to divulge how much money he pockets from donations personally.

Buffet seems a lot like Biden.....

I think at this point like 2 stroke outboards , some things just need to be let go, there's no turning back, can we say covid 19 ??? just got to figure a way around the obsticles to still have a meaningful life. he never expounded my politics but I'm past that , he's a great insperation, when I got to college outside Atlanta with alot of people outside my parents income bracket imbraced this guy ,,, other than" Come Monday " I knew nothing of him , back then he would show up to a campus for 2000.00 and party favors. after that i dropped out of college ( from financial reasons mainly ) and moved to Key West , and found out he had left the island , but from then on watched his achievement.

the title of this thread is " Jimmy Buffet's boat " ,,, not JB

I read about the building of his latest boat and it’s off the hook.

The man himself?
No argument from me.

When I lived in Fla I read up on his involvement in the manatee game and the other hypocrites involved.

Worst was during a Keys visit and reading the local paper (I always do when traveling) and a story about Key West bar owner and legend Captain Tony’s passing.
Buffet got his start by pan handling and sleeping on the sidewalk in front of Tony’s bar before Tony gave him a break and hired him to play in his bar.
That was Buffets start.

The story in the paper was that Buffet didn’t even attend Tonys funeral and that confirmed what the Conchs had always thought about Buffet.
That he is a fake and a weasel.

Interesting tid bit is that after retelling that story to every Buffet fan I know, not a single one gave a ****!

Jimmy only listens to "reggae and country music when he is fishing."

JB's fishing boat.

I read that in the story in Professional Boat Builder.

Amazing technology available when you have more money that God.

No generator on board, all battery powered including the AC system.

He should only have 1 engine on that rig so he has to idle everywhere.

Believe Merritt is building him a new one now. Freeman built the hull on this one, and Merritt did the pilot house. Apparently, there was an issue with JB and Freeman on the dive doors. JB wanted them on both sides and Freeman wasn't comfortably structurally doing it on both sides. JB had it done and later had issues, and of course blamed it on Freeman. That's the story I heard anyway from someone who worked at Merritt...

sad to hear that. you can't beat the **** out of a matchbox with a cut on both sides and not have it bend in on the matches . sad to realize he may not be in the right place creatively.

If the hull and deck were pre configured for the doors then there would be no problem. Just imagine "beams" under the door sills running fore and aft. They would take all the flexing energy and distribute it along the hull sides. I did big doors on whalers after the fact (both sides) for rescue boats and commercial dive boats. No failures and the doors were water tight. Right at the waterline when open was the spec.

gotta remember whalers have an inner stregnth shell boats dont, the foam core, that foam gives the whole hull an extra amount of stregnth hollow shells don't have, refering (sp , I know and dont care , its 3:39 am and im just trying to get drousy enought to go back to bed for a few hours before another day starts ) to the fact that a whaler hull is full of foam, not a core like in a stream. your literally dealing with a yeti cooler type of structer vs a shoe box.

Yeah, that's true. Whalers are a block of foam. Just woke, gotta get up and leave in 2 hrs. Same here, but the coffee pots calling out to me. Sucks being a fish guide forever and getting up and being out the door at 4.30 everyday.
