Looking for a better set of carbs for a soon to be warmed over V4 flat-back. Any ifno on the below mentioned OMC #'s?????
"The number on the tag is 393 781 235 MX, 393 782 235 MX, & 393 781 235 MX.
It's off an 80's model engine, I believe it is 82-83."
Carbs I have are '78 vintage, small throat, and have the old choke plates. Looking for newer enrichment circuit type, larger throats and better overall metering ability.

Ya know, I too have an older OMC V4 and right now I just want it to run for the summer I know that in the fall I'll probably want to do stuff to it to make it more powerful.
Anybody - is there a thread on how-to's or "the best path to follow"? Like, step 1, do this to your exhaust, step2, do this to your timing, step 3 do this to your carbs, etc...?
I guess just commn things to do, the "everybody starts here" help.
Clint, Don't want to take over your thread but I'm interested in what your reply's are going to be too.

I've picked up some great info from Laker and BL and can share all that with you. Biggest thing I think you'll want to do is optimize your current setup and get everything tuned up before you start trying to squeze more out more power.
My current issue is the carbs I have now are old and are not as tune'able as some of the newer styles and I'll be needing more flow volume in the future so I want to take steps that lead me in that direction.
I know somebody out there knows about these carbs.......sure would like some help id'ing these things.
