I broke the pivot shaft (or leg I guess you call it) in my 1976 or 1977 115 Evinrude. The motor originally did not have powertrim. A friend of mine has a midsection to a 115 crossflow with powertrim. Should I just put my power head and lower unit on his midsection? It seems like this would be the way to go. Any and all tips and insights will be appreciated. Is this a really tough undertaking? Also, I thought of converting my 115 to a 140 by using 140 carbs, exhaust, and 1979 140 heads. Should I use another midsection from a 140? Someone told me if I do that, I will have less machining to do later with the midsection, you know making the bubble back exhaust work on a midsection for a flat back 115. Help me out OMC guys. I appreciate your insights. Thanks, Ronny

What year is the broken motor and what year is the parts motor.
The block design changes at different years.

I know the broken motor is a 1976 or 1977. I guess I better get the serial number and I don't know the year of the replacement but I know it is a crossflow 115 from the 1970's. Should I maybe just replace the leg and section that bolts to the transom instead of the whole midsection? Thanks again. ronny

'77 and '78 were transition years. Some parts will fit, some will not.

Yup.
If the 140 is 77 or newer, the older powerhead bolts wont all liine up to the mid. Went through it once.
