Ok here's a big cubic inch Q.
I have a 1978 Chrysler 4 horse,,I want to change my impeller but I can't see how to unhook the shift shaft?
I can tear down an old OMC blindfolded but I am new to this Monster MOPAR!
so anyone?

Simply stated I don't know. It does have a shift-?, it does have a shift handle that operates a shaft that looks like it goes under the powerhead-?, you have dropped the lower unit to see if the shift shaft disconnect is visable in the space between the gearcase and the upper exhaust hausing-?, or maybe a spline or some kind of slip joint may come apart-?, pull the powerhead to undo the connection of the shift handle and the shift shaft, just like some small Johnsons/Evinrudes.
Then put it on E-Bay and sell it and get a real engine.

If you havn't figured it out yet , I forgot to mention another option. Some motors had the impeller driven off of the prop shaft so no need to take off the l/u. Are we there yet?
You could trade up to a Ted Williams!

man you really got it in for my little moter!
I have not tried to get it apart yet,,because I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing! youknow I did not want to pull the power head off and then find out there was a trick screw on the side of the power head!
anyway it seems no one here has ever taken one apart,so I guess I will just wing it!
