melted down #2 in a 2.4 I have , the wrist pin tore the bridges out of the block between the intake ports and the bottom of the bore. My first time out on the water this year, 15 minutes:( Captain Insane-o.

I'll take some tonight and post them up. What is your turn around on something like that? There are'nt any holes in the block, but it pretty much took out the bridge that runs under the sleeve. If you can do it I'll ship out some new wiseco's for top pinning and have you size the bores accordingly.

P.M. me your address. Use mine (Capt. Insane-o). The friggin seat loosend up in the carb. This was the first time I actually got to run it hard, ran very well for a 2.4. If it would help out any doing the chest that would be cool. Despite my past bitchings there will be 6 new wiseco's coming you way also. It was ported before so you will have to match them. The other port is the same way f.y.i. :) :D . Capt. Insane-o is out the door and headed for home!

Just let me take a look at it and I will tell you what I would do to make it smoke. I will check all the bores to make sure its all set up run high RPM Wisecos. I'm sending you a PM now.

Been there, had that happen. I was turning about 7K when mine siezed. Melted the rod cap and bearings to the crank journal. Now I put the least bit of BLUE Loctite on ALL the carb seats. I mean a very tee tiny bit. No more problems and they can be removed with the correct size screw driver without heat.

That is my bosses name. Thanks a bunch, I was pretty bummed when it let go.Was pulling a 30 7100 when it my hat blew off turned around , grabbed it out of the lake and popped it on plane and it started clattering and banging, The only thing left of the piston was stuck to the head and a ball of aluminum about the size of a 50 cent piece.:(

I plan on running 110 octane race gas. I bought another 2.4 from a board member for tamer usage. Also it will see extended long runs. Waterwings that was on lake St. Clair in my HST. Not exactly the type of water to be doing that in. handled it pretty well though, except for no padding in my new seat.

With six steel sleeves I get 300 HP.

Are we better off with steel or chrome, which I was under the impression was slicker? Harder to get the port timing for high HP ? How mutch can I mill 150 Hemi heads, for pump gas running 5700 rpm's, That is on a fissin boat of my budd's with a 150 not my boat.

Between steel and chrome I would have to say steel. Chrome sucks. Nicasil is good but it can’t be bored of successfully ported for long term use. The lose of combustion chamber volume is not liner when mill a Hemi head. You will have to calculate it out. Fill the head with fluid to the desired CCs and drop a surface Mic down in the chamber to get the measurement to cut.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have allways liked steel, you can patch it, hone ,and bore it. But The chrome bore motors have supprized me (bad speller) how they hold up for what they are. I was thinking .040 on the heads might be safe :D

how much can you bore a steel sleeve motor? safely?

Also, why don't you like the chrome sleeves?

Sounds good to me. From what I measured the ports the exhaust is around 1.500, intakes at 2.120 and fingers at 2.020. Exhaust chest is stock. How murch for the piston porting too? I'll probably send it out to you tuesday or so. Also I have a 5 and 7 petal cages coming with the other motor and it will be seeing a touch of nitrous.
