...i'm here to tell ya...that transom had issues for a long time prior to this repair...& you know at least the rear length of the stringers are bad too. common problem down here when a boat is stored outside improperly at any time in its life.

Have you checked the lower edge of the stringers further along the hull?
The water wicks forward from the rotten ends
