Hello,

I am new to the forum and looking for some advice. I am getting a 95 Merc 200 XRI in the next couple of days. For now I am looking at changing the reeds and tuner for a little more go power. Wondering what people recommend as far as brands for reeds, tuner, etc. Future mods will probably be mill heads and a different ECU. I would like to keep as much holeshot as possible as this motor will be on a bassboat. I know that the tuner/reed swap is not a earth shattering difference, but what would an expected HP difference be by swapping. Thanks for your time and advice in advance.

You can expect to see very little if any HP gain in those mods. The reeds will give you a quicker throttle response and maybe a couple hundred more rpm's on top and won't ruin anything if it sucks it through. The tuner mod is pretty much a waste of money unless you plan on running the high "r's" but then the stock ports arn't going to let you do that anyways. Spend the money on getting your heads done and not going over 150 lbs. of cylinder pressure.
