Pad On A Xr2002

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS HULL IT NOT SAFE ABOVE 110 MPH IT WANTS TO LIFT AND DIVE THE NOSE THE HUMP ON THE BACK OF THE PAD COULD THIS BE TAKEN OFF? OR SHOULD I HAVE THE GEAR CASE MOD. IM RUNNING A 98 2.5

Do not grind the hook off the pad. Make sure the rest of the pad is true though. This is the boat the 129MPH record was set with. I doubt that any boat is safe above 110 MPH without ideal conditions. Removing the hook at the back of the pad will turn it into an ill handling night mare. Which modification by whom and which gear case are you running? I personally have gotten the best results from Mark at Props Plus in Muscle Shoals when having gear cases modified.

im running a sportmaster i was thinking bobs machine shop maybe ? some people have told me that it will be easier to drive if i get the gear case modified. I mean i can drive it but im really leary about bring it over 110 because it seems to get alot flighter than my xb2003 i know weight was a big deal but im kind of looking for a little knowledge 1

i was out on your chain last sunday, you were nowhere to be found. bring that thing up to the shop and sit down for a while.

now as far as the pad goes, the lip works well when you run less power it helps lift the stern and decrease the wetted surface.

now when you throw some power at it, it really lifts the tail and forces the nose flat, not really a bad thing but it takes a while to get use to the feeling, like the differance between the '03 and your xr.

i dont think that the record setting hull had a stock pad, but i do not know for sure, my pad has been modded and works better than before, is that sporty still stock? if i remember correctly it was on a river rocket. we have some tricks for that also.
