Hey guys, so i took the boat out last weekend and she ran great. I was surprised how much fuel i went through though lol.
She is an 82 vector with I believe an 89 Mercury 200 Black max.
When I shut her down at the dock she would barely start so I grabbed my volt meter from the car and found her to only be "charging" at 12.2v
I am guessing at the stator or rectifier but am hoping someone can take a look at some engine pictures that I have attached and tell me how to test for which component
may be bad.
Thanks for the help!

I have the same motor. You have the old pos water cooled rectifier-regulator that is probably the problem. Fire it up and check the AC side of things to see if your flywheel stator is putting out or not.
You have the 40 amp charging system. My reg caught on fire. I replaced with an eBay $40 one 4 years ago. Still running.

The factory service manual is great for checking this stuff. I can probably snap a pic for you if you need it

Hey guys, so I got the volt meter out yesterday and did a few tests.
Here is what I found.
I had resistance at the 2 yellow wires off the stator.
So I am thinking this circuit is not open and the stator should be ok.
I had voltage from the 2 red wires from the regulator but it was irratic.
The purple wire gave me about 5v when the key was on and voltage checked at the bullet connector
The 2 yellow wires off the regulator was also irratic but I got maybe 15v.
I am guessing at the voltage regulator.
Do you guys agree?
Do I order a new voltage regulator?
Does anyone have the part number?
Is there an upgrade that I can or should do?
Thanks for the help.

I was just looking on Amazon.
They have a generic 5 wire regulator on the website.
Thinking of ordering it up and seeing if it works.
The wire colours are the same as the old one.
Is there anything I should know?
Its only $40.00
Thanks
