For starters please forgive my lingo. I am new to this wacker stuff.
1997 promax 225, engine has had some things done to it in the past. I am not exactly sure what has been done, but it is not stock. The previous owner gave me a bosch fuel pump and recommended that I remove the stock fuel pump assembly. I cannot remember what he called it. I have all the parts to do this with the exception of the regulator. So, what are the benefits to this? I am guessing the adjustment of fuel pressure is one? Regulator, return style? Mount the pump on the engine, or in the boat? Any help or links to threads that will help me would be great. I tried searching, but it is hard when I dont know what I am searching for.
Thanks in advance!

That system is recommended for 260 and 280 horn Motors with crankcase injectors not Promax

Why would it make any difference. If the vst is deleted?

Just like it says in the article the system works for Pro Max too but may need different fittings at the motor as the ones listed are for horn motors...

Jay says:
I have several Pro max customers a year that want to "clean up" the front of their motor buy removing the OEM fuel equiptment.
After removing all the OEM stuff:
I use the small Bosch fuel pump and mount in the boat. I get it from Brucato. I next connect the outlet of the pump to the brass fitting above the VST tank where the old pump tied in. I then use a stock 260 gold regulator and tie into the return line back to the tank, I even use the orficed tee that comes from the high pressure side of the rail on the 260 to the return line returning to the tank.. I'm not at a parts cat. now and can't give you the parts numbers I use as I'm on vacation but will be home in a few days , call me at the shop @ 1 281 576 5088 (tel:1 281 576 5088) and I'll get you the numbers ....

You will need a return line to the fuel tank that's the difference it makes

The return line to the fuel tank could be problematic for most guys

Very minor modification..
If a simple return line is a problem for "most guys". Then they probly aren't on this site looking to modify their setup.

The Diamond Marine article linked above covers several options including one very simple solution for the return line if you don't have an extra fitting in your tank already. Did you read it?
