Better Trim Setup

Question......have a 93 XR6 3-ram trim that needs a motor, solenoids now with 3 wire motor. Will the two wire "relays" type motor fit the pump and is there any advantage to switching to 2 wire & relays. Figure Merc switched for a reason, somehow better?

Not sure you can still get three wire systems. I know Pro Marine sells a conversion that's not bad.
