I have a stock fishin 98 200 efi that Im starting with. I also have a notched lower unit so does that mean I can use the 200efi clamp and trim assembly with a 15" mid? Are there any 15" mid sections that exhaust through the prop or no? Whats a dry stack all about? Im sure I will have more questions but its a start. Thanks gents

You cutting down the transom? Running a drop bracket?

The "saddle" on the clamp has to be shortened as well as the tiller, shift shaft, and water pipe. So, "no." The V-King was designed for a 20" V6 so you're going to need more mods than that to get it set up properly on your boat. It can be done successfully, look at Bill Foner...

Thanks boys, I’m thinking the 20 will suffice for now. It ran 78 before and 90 seems far from that.

for no reason should you have to cut or modify your transom. to cut a mid you need to start with an single ram clamp, and then have someone talented cut it or else youll break driveshafts or the mid/ clamp itself. (ronnie holzmacher, Bill foner, marty powell) are all good guys for this. If you dont wanna deal with cutting, Factory 15 is a sweet but expensive option. The boat does not need a 15, but let me tell you the handling drastically improves and if i was to ever buy another stream, it would only get a 15 inch mid.

Thanks for the tips. This is what I have been told by a few people and then others say its only for show hence this thread. I'm doing a new Viking build now and planning out the pieces to get there. I have time to think on this but any and all opinions are welcome

My Vking with a factory 15" Mid. No mods to the boat just bolt on and set engine height. After a bad experience with a 15" mid that was cut I wouldn't run one again. Plenty of guys run them from one of the guys mentioned above with no problems tho.

Don't want to call anyone out but depending on who cut your mid that could have been the problem...

I've seen the work of two of the three good ones mentioned above and would have no issues using one of those guys! I'd steer clear of any cut bass legs for sure as they will definitely crack. Had one of those myself...

I set a 15'' on my Kings transom and I didn't think there was any way it would get water even with the sporty. Guess I was wrong. It was 2'' above the pad. Beautiful boat JABCO.....

That makes more sense then. Every 15" mid I've seen on a stream has had a jackplate. Bolting on the transom wouldn't let the clamp sit low enough.

I figured to remove some weight and lose the setback that my boat does not need. It sure looked bad a** though.

most streams were built based on the 15 inch 1500xs, the vking possibly for the v6 merc but the one i had, the transom was no higher then my viper. i was 1 3/4 above( way too low) having a pinned psi gauge which was 35psi, with my 28et i ran 102.6 or whatever. with a 32, the rake caused the boat to run on its side over 100 since the motor was so deep. same happened with andrew zellers viper when i piloted that bad boy up to 105 n change with the 32. im excited to see how your boat runs with the ol 150 kody, i bet youll gain a few mph over last season, and put some 16 amp **** on and turn that ****er up

V-King transom is .75" higher than Viper. Not much difference I guess...
