Looking to hear from people that has had a trophy plus worked for more bow lift ? Would b&b help along with tip cup?
Hopefully sumone has had one worked for more lift and can share the before and after?
Dont really wanna put more into it if I'm gonna need better prop. Thanks

I had one worked by DAH propellers in Burlington Wis. I was running it on a 20 foot Gambler Supersport powered by a 225 promax, with a 20" offshore mid. They recommended adding in some cupping and just a bit of thinning if I remember correctly, it did allow me to run a bit more neutral trim to achieve the same bow lift, and overall did give me better lift. I struggled with bow lift for many years. Mine was a 25" Trophy Plus.

I have a 29p that's heavily worked with a lot of tip cup, shortened barrel and some thinning. Don't know who did it but it is a very good runner. I run neutral trim at speed. When you get on the pedal the bow rises w/o trimming the engine. That's a lot of lift. Might be my fastest prop yet.

I have a 28 worked by DAH a number of years ago. It's a great prop on my setup right until the high 80's than it blows out. Doesn't do anything crazy other than drop the bow and slam me into the steering wheel. I believe it's because of the small diameter.

This rig only good for low 80s, spends most it's time round 50 -70 just tryin get it where I like it , I'll use the go fast props and stuff for checkmate

I bought a cheap slightly dinged 28 Trophy some years ago and had the seller send it to Steve Smith. For another 250 I had a very fast prop. Fast on my SS2000 at any rate.

Your boat has alot more natural lift than mine did or Merc 2.5 - I know where he's coming from and feel his pain....

Just FYI DAH said they would much rather a person buys a 27 to have them work as they say the 27 is a much different prop than the 28 and can be made to be much better even though they look the same. I gotta believe they know whats what.

I heard this but what bout 25. I heard it's even #s that didnt do so good. That's y I went with 25 instead 26. Was I wrong?heard 26 all over place and 27 is on. Was hoping b same with 25. Stock prop with rough leading edge runs 10% slip max

The 28 trophy is a different casting then the other trophy's and came along a touch later. That being said its more about blade shape, pitch progression than "thinning".

I talked to mark croxton bout what I needed out of this trophy, and after lots talkin he just recomend me try a tempest ,
That kinda threw me off , so obviously he thinks I can get more lift from tempest or he just dont wanna work on it

Tempests might be the king of bow lift. I have one of those too. 29p Same mods tip cup, shortened barrel, thinned. Good runner. I just can't trim it up at all. It what i'm running in my sig pic.

We shall see and damn I hope it works , I dont care what it is if I get the lift and speed

I know mark knows his props with bassboats and I'm not gonna question it (much) , but he tells me I'll get more bow lift with a 3 blade than the trophy , I always thought 4 blade lifted better?

Bolt on that tempest. You will see what it does.

Made 2 very quick passes with the tempest and at 1st with the high prop to pad , it was actually little worse , I decided to lower my jackplate all the way which prob 2in or so below pad and carried the boat like its suppose to. What I haven't tried is runnin my trophy at the same level I just run tempest , I'll prob end up gettin a tempest but gonna try trophy 1 more time and see what I get ,

Just gonna rant a second
I was on bbc tryin talk to a guy bout a tempest he had and the all mighty deleted all my post and sent a message sayin I had to have my last name and bunch **** in my profile , well I'm damn sure not gonna give u directions to my house. Damn ! Gets aggravating, people let any kinda power go straight to their already bowed up head. Anyway.
I'm think a b&b tempest is gonna be my ticket , still got another test to do, but I've bout made up my mind
Xstream said while back in another post , that tempest dont get the credit they deserve and that was some proof I had today , I've never had my boat chine walk up in mid 70s , but it started to walk and started feeling light on top. Exactly what I was looking for , but will need me modded sum so I can run it as high as I want. I was impressed

I thought I had my trophy traded but fell thru , so I told mark how tempest did and what I needed , he seems confident he can help my prop , so I got it sent off today, hopefully it performs like I want it to

Well I feel like a moron , I had my setup just all wrong
I sent my trophy off , so I put on my stock 28 chopper and went tested , and I got plenty of bow lift now , ran this one up to 5800 5900 round 75-78mph , so I came home and got my modified 28 chopper which I can spin usually 300or so rpm more , gonna go try it in few. Cant believe I was just so wrong on my setup. Got my steering adjusted and its ridin on pad like it never has

Bet the tempest still outruns the chopper, and will have a better, more solid hookup all the way thru the range.

It's surprising to see the change just a little tweak can make.

Well kinda long story , as I was just getting into the speed thing then. I had a small bass boat 15ft actually measure 14.9. but I ended up with 200 and hydro jackplate , that boat needed alot of engine height cause stern sit sooo deep , when I went to the 19.6 ft , i was tryin run that same jackplate height and i had my motor mounted high as possible on the plate , which had me way up there but the boat is to heavy for that , I lowered motor on the plate and ran plate bottomed out and worked up very little at time til I got it where boat liked it. I just had it in my head that I gotta run even with pad to get speed but was killin my lift. I was just a hard headed ,dumb mistake. I wish boat was bout 300lbs lighter and b perfect bass rig. I'll get the cmate finished up soon enuff so I can go fast , which high 70s 80 is movin pretty good for big fishin load. Would like to see it hit low 80s with new prop work comin

If they are using digital tools somebody has to pay for it. Old days they beat them on a wood pitch block and called it good.

I sure hope it is digital. Dont think it could b blueprinted without it really , how the times have changed and I'm not that dang old
I'll be sure to post a pic to get opinions on it

My prop guy would give a digital points readout of before and after any work. It looked like a "map grid " of the prop at many different points across the blades. He fell into the dope scene.....Don't know where he is now. Damn shame, he was very talented and could tweak a prop better than anyone I ever knew. His props were smooth runners, and hooked well.

I hate to hear that , such gud talent go to waste , well hopefully mark will send sum paper work with it idk. prob be here mon I've got a decent prop shop local , performance propeller I'll use them next , I really dont want to give mark hell but there was a serious communication issue , I printed out a work order and put it with the prop to , I dont see how someone starts whoppin on a prop without talkin to the owner 1st or maybe hes overwhelmed

I have props that need minor repair and have no one to take them to. Shipping is a pia. Results vary it seems. When I worked at a dealership that had a small prop shop, we had a 17 yr old kid that was a prop wizard. Amazing work.

He did a excellent job on this prop. I knew it had little vibration to at idle speeds also. Now it's just as smooth, I was able to raise my plate and stay hooked up and keep bowlift , he also added stern lift to, boat finally feels "light" , slip went down ,mph went up ,plenty lift. couldn't be happier with the prop now. It drives like a completely diff boat,, I can finally leave this boat alone now and get back to work on the cmate

So a Trophy and a good prop guy was recommended to you. Did this solve the need to add setback?
What was the final pitch your running
Does it lift and hold your boat sooner
What's your top speed now
Merc 2.5
07-12-2020, 02:29 PM
Havent done wot run yet. I did surpasse the previous speed , I will get a wot # tho. the wife is out with me and will not go over 50 lol. It gets on pad alot sooner ,and holds it great. Inky reason I havent increased set back is I gott get hydraulic or cables but the prop made up for it flies nose perfect and stern lifting great now. It would prob have to much lift for a speed (light) hull. I'll get more # when I get go without wife. Sunday is our "her" cruise day
