I have to ask this question. The Formula One boats I have seen are not one piece. The wood sponsons are not one piece with the cockpit shell of the boat. With the little material used in comparison with other boats why can't there be a mold for a F1 boat that is one piece? I have seen these these boats come apart on turns sometimes and it seems they could make these boats a whole lot stronger. I do realize they are turning at 100 mph and at 5G's and I also realize they are meant to be as light as possible but it seems they could still be light but alot stronger and stay together a little better.

some F1 boats that are composite(one piece)but they are VERY expensive compared to wood boats, reason being, technology changes so fast. So much time goes into building a mold, by the time it is completed, the technology incorporated in it is outdated. That is the primary reason wood boats still dominate the race arena.

You cant get a one piece F1 out of the mold.
