I like gold coins/bars that are smaller values and easier to liquidate/trade in an emergency than large bars or gold on paper stocks. Gold trinkets are good too. Not really a great time to buy, but it should not lose value anytime soon. So, you are safe. Will gold explode? Dunno. Some examples....
