When they first came out with the FlowTorq props I bought a new Merc Chopper II with one installed [late 1990's]. I was going to dinner with Friends and ended up being towed in with a Jon Boat. I researched and found that Merc started producing a solid insert that would not shred the plastic insert. Since then I have bought several different types of FloTorq II with different configuration solid inserts. Now it seems there is an anti-clunk HD FloTorq insert. Is it worthwhile and will it shred? I am tired of buying and gluing on the hard plastic strips of the standard solid inserts.
Thanks,
JR

I have 2 of the 'anti clunk' hub aka Flow-Torque SSR HD
http://reynoldsracingmarine.com/newhdhub.htm

On my old 225 Promax which idled about 1100 rpm, it made a big difference in shifting. With my current 200XS which idles about 1/2 that, the difference in shift quality is small. The negative is getting the SSR HD out of a prop once installed. There's a thread in the prop section about how to do this. If I ever have to, I'll take it to a prop shop to get it pressed out. That's why I have two
