Hello,
I am interested in using a complete V8 midsection and installing a late model OMC V6 looper powerhead onto the midsection. I am not sure which adaptor plate to use and if any other modification are needed to make it work. I like the size/look of the V8 midsection and the commonality, simplicity of the V6 and abundance of parts.
Thank you for your time.

That's not easy, Ur gonna have to make parts, the adapters are completely different..I cut the top off one and welded a 1/2 in plate to the mid with some extra bolted in support angles for safety and then bolted a v6 adapter to the plate .. there's no way to just find bolt on parts and do it..

Thank you for your insight. I always thought the 2.0 liter/3.0 liter/4.0 liter loopers were all the same just with more cylinders? Will a V4 bolt up to the V8? My fear is having to create a longer driveshaft if I raise the engine up on the modified adapter plate.

The v8 has its own bolt pattern due to omc making a matching v8 only mid when they designed it, the v6 should have been the same with its own new looper mid but like always they cut corners and used the xflow mid and left us with a messed up exhaust flow with that huge angle back to meet the old xflow mid casting along with double the amount of powerhead bolts on the v6...it has an inner pattern going thru the adapter and old mid and an an outer set thru the adapter to powerhead only. The v4 has the xflow pattern so none are the same.. The drive shaft length is probably your easiest problem to overcome compared to making an adapter plate for the v6-adapter to v8-mid pattern and getting it all right so the drive shaft is aligned and water tube fits. I think kevin, Bajamerc on here did what you are talking about may ask him for some photos..

way to go , fix the exhaust issue as H20Perf says but you need to create your own adapter
