Has anyone ever left out the exhaust restricter out and does that cause the water pump to get hot? It looks like it would restrict the exhaust relief. thanks Rick

He's talking about a lemmonrude..... Rick.. what do you mean "exhaust restrictor"? do you mean the adapter between the mid and lower unit? if so, you'll burn up the water pump housing without it

That is basically a stinger like a dirt bike ,midsection is the expansion chamber, powerhead has the header if you delete it not only will you melt the water pump @ 1500 rpm an up engine will be a mut till higher rpm

It will not melt the waterpump. I have been running without my inner ex housing for 30 years on a v6 crossflow with no water pump damage. You would not believe how much water leaks around the water pump at the drive shaft, just put a lower unit in a barrel and spin it with a drill and you will wonder how any water gets to the power head.
