well i think i can see it is a 2.5l as for the hp can this not be a replacement block? i'm taking a wild guess, there is no number on the freeze plug that is what make me thinking , i would really like it to be a 200hp?

BB stamp should mean 150EFI 2.5
AA should be 2.0 150/135
CC was 2.5 150 XR6
DD was 2.5 175
EE and FF were 2.5 200.
Of course thats how it “should” be. I’ve seen factory carb FF’s that say 175. It goes back to what we always say about Mercury - that usually stuck to the book, but when they needed to get motors out the door, they would grab parts from anywhere and build it.

no "lumps" don't make it a 2.5 jus so ya know..
all "fat blocks", 2.0 2.5 even tha '91 2.4 XR4 look identical on tha outside.. there are a few bolt on parts that can be cross referenced if it hasn't been molested over time...
"what will the difference be between the 150&200hp visually"
