My neighbor donated to me an old mercury that he said he was sick and tired of working on. He had it running when the recoil gave out. I plan on fixing the recoil and selling it. I would just like to have a little more information on the motor and what it is worth, if anyone can help.

On the motor tag this is what is listed:
Model: Mark 10
Serial #: 1062626
Kiekhafer Corp.

The neighbor said he thinks it is a 1961 or 1962, 10 hp.

Any additional help is appreiciated.

They're neat little motors, but not as valuable as some people think considering that they're 50 years old. There are a few members around here that have a better idea of the old fishin' motor market than I do, but if one of em doesn't notice, you might try: WWW.AOMCI.org

A personal message from this board to OleGator or Mark75H will get you some expert advice also. Both are AOMCI members.

I didn't expect that this motor was worth much. I have a guy interested for a couple hundred bucks. He wants it for a little fishing boat. I was just checking to make sure it wasn't a diamond in the rough. I am going to a local Mercury dealer this afternoon to see if he can tell me what year it is for sure and to see if he can get me some of the small parts it needs.

Thanks

IF THIS IS THE ENGINE I THINK IT IS, MOST OF THE AOMCI GUYS ARE RELUCTANT TO GET INVOLVED WITH. I WOULD SAY IF SOMEONE IS WILLING TO GIVE YOU $200.00, TAKE IT. PERSONALY I THINK THEY ARE REAL NEAT ENGINES. THIS ENGINE HAS THE THROTTLE AND SHIFT ALL IN THE TWIST GRIP. THE DRAWBACK TO THESE ARE: THE NEED OF SPECIAL TOOLS TO WORK ON THE WATER PUMP, THE NEED TO REMOVE THE POWER HEAD TO SERVICE THE WATER PUMP. HOPE THIS HELPS.
