Does anyone know how to verify a faria tach on a 2002 225 efi?

The easiest way would be to ask a dealer/mechanic to plug a DDT scan tool in and compare it to the Faria while you're running; should cost next to nothing to do.
Otherwise you can get cheap ($30) non-contact tachometers that you point at a mark on the flywheel: https://www.vxb.com/LCD-Digital-Photo-Laser-Tachometer-Rotation-p/Kit12119.htm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4Pfa-uqT4wIV1LjACh1o-AtWEAQYBCABEgJ4lfD_BwE which might be useful for other things besides the boat?

Tiny Tach. Google them. Great little self contained inductive pickup tachometer. I have 2 on my dash for just in case verification of switchboxes, but nice to have digital readout next to the dial tach.
