Bought a 23.5 Eliminator Daytona from someone on this site a couple/few years ago. Pretty rough but decent bones. My 18 year old son and I recently finished it and have been running it here in SW Florida. 1988 Boat that looks like every past owner has installed 5 stereos each and drilled holes everywhere possible. Lots of work filling all holes and such. Old multi-colored gel coat with 6 colors and stripes every which way all faded. Took hatch out of deck and removed dumbass portholes and docking lights. Reinforced the deck and various other spots. Still learning to drive it but seems to be a pretty good boat. Huge open bay here and the boat handles some pretty big chop. Twin 225 Johnsons need bigger props (running 28 Bravos now) but has great cruise speed and probably a decent top speed potential although I need more time and bigger props to tell. Gets into the 80s now and cruises all day at 55 under 4000 rpm. Here are a few pics: PaulO

Good looking boat, great father/ son project - Now throw a pair of 300xs/ 400R on it and let it eat :)

Lookin' good. Did you fab the rear hatch? Mine is massive and rises about 4" above decking.

Counter rotating props or both the same? Does it porpoise? Cool ride

Counter rotating props turning in. Not a custom hatch as far as I know. No porpoise. Thanks for the compliments!

Sub’d. Nice work! I find it odd that some report zero porpoising but others do it every time. Anyway, a couple of us have converted these to a single 400r and running 100 give or take and makes for a super efficient and user friendly combo.

Congratulations on getting your Eliminator running! There’s a few of us keeping these things alive. I’m enjoying mine, similar to yours, I’ve put 5 years into mine with the help of friends and am in triple digits with a single 400R, but I did modify my center pod. It pulls 4 MPG@60, and about 3.3@85.

Looking at your prop pics, does the port prop have a longer tube or is that an illusion? The reason I cut my pod was because it had a 3° negative angle to the sponsons, like dragging a tab, preventing bow lift. Cutting my pod allows the rear to squat, therefore allowing a greater angle of attack, generating more bow lift.

Turning your props in generates more bow lift, and I’ve found short tubes take away the stern lift. If your port prop is longer, I’d shorten it to match the starboard if you plan on keeping those props.

Glad you got to do this with your son, my guess is he’ll remember it forever. Keep enjoying your Daytona!
