He's done the same for me more than once, in fact as recently as yesterday!

Props went head to head against my 30 Dewalds. The Signatures were 32's but they were only 14 3/4" diameter and the Dewalds I run are 15". I run a high x so the smaller diameter may have been giving up a little.
The 300x's had no problem turning them to 6500rpm with 2 people and 80gallons of fuel on board.
They are a nice prop for the money.

Speed difference ?
My 30's ran the same speed as the 32's. 32's were 1/4" smaller diameter

So what your saying is for the money no speed difference over less priced props ,just nice props for the money

Sounds like you need bigger diameter or 34s

Ron's boat is set up perfect. Pretty amazing that the old X motors can turn a 5 blade 32 like that. I agree with Ryan that it would be nice to put a pair of 15" on it and try. I got a gift package from Dave Dewald that I need to play with tomorrow.

The Dewalds and Hills are about the same price. The big speed difference comes with the 15.25 diameter which the Non 300R motors have a harder time turning "to much bite" at 4% slip. I will run a pair of 36 x 15.25 Hills on my new 25 Liberator with 300R's this coming week.

That is just a case diameter issue.

Joe I agree, I think although the props worked pretty well having a set of 15” diameter would be the best comparison. Because of the high x dimension the slip on the 32”s was a bit higher. What pitch are those.

I will also be trying a set of Mercury 32” CNC’s that are 15” 1/4 just for kicks. I have found that the large diameter is needed with high engine height. The new larger Mercury case runs higher in the water than the older sportmasters as the water pickup on it farther back.

This is a 34 that I am going to try on the STVs. I am going to run it on mine and one with a 300R.

Joe

What is the diameter of your 34"? What is the rake? I think he told me 18deg on mine?

Dewald has a set of 30" x 15+" on his bench for me that he has not finished cleaning up. He said that he cannot get much over 15" with his castings after they are cleaned up, but would get as much diameter as he could over 15" for me to try them. That way, if needed, he can cut them smaller if they don't work. I have a twin step Vee, and it has so much air under it, that prop slip is bad on anything less than 15" diameter props.
