Stv Euro, Livorsi analog gauges rigged by Jack Barsh. 1998 Promax 225 rebuilt buy a reputable engine builder, stock motor. Have searched and see the soft limiter is.... depending on the poster 6650 to 6750 when it goes full rich. That wouldn't effect the tach though except that the motor stops pulling. Somewhere around those same rpms my tach needle goes crazy and jumps all over. Let off the gas rpms go down and tach works normal. So am I hitting a hard limiter after that? I don't hear the motor dropping cylinders but then again all I hear really is wind.
Motor has stock Mercury ECU that as far as I know has never been opened or altered. So would the soft limiter and the hard limiter be that close together in rpms. Trying to figure out if the tach has a problem or its just the rev limiter coming in.

No hard limiter on a Pro Max, try switching the tachometer lead to the other regulator.

Thank you David. Will try that and see if that clears it up.
