40 aamp to 16 amp 225 pm

I HAVE ALITEWIGHT flywheel 16 a and a good 16 amp stator, how difficult would it be to change my pm to 16 amp system? dont run any accessories only gps. would it be fairly simple change? my electrical skills are limited. 5.-10 horses gain ive heard? its a 96 225 stock p max. thanks

Not sure about HP gains.....:nonod::D It will just take weight off which= help the top of crank and top bearing.
You will need to modify your engine harness or get one from a 245/260 engine. Also install a rectifier and I like to use a 245/260 voltage regular. Some use 1 of your voltage regular from your 40amp setup.
Basically I suggest to copy the 245/260 engine electrical setup....JMPO

Maybe I'm wrong I think I only changed flywheel, and stator, and unplugged 1 of my regulators, an works fine, but I've been drunk since then. Lol

ill just let it be, i expected more from the 2.5 going up from my 2.4 220 but that didnt happen. same rig same prop same lake same passanger, 2-3 mph faster.

Ya that's kinda weird, but I've only seen difference in 2.4 200 vs a modded PM pretty much

It will be quicker and better on the crank. That’s all. You will have plenty of electrical capacity with the 16 amps, given your setup. Losing 6 pounds off your reciprocating weight is a really nice change. You have the parts. Go for it.
