Hey everyone.
I use to be a regular on here but life and kids took a front seat to my life and i haven't logged on in a long time. Now my kids are older and are getting into the boat scene on their own. Being a merc guy i need help identifying a evinrude motor that my son is looking at.
Need rough year, block size and designation ( ie. Crossflow or looper) and to know if power head will bolt onto a '78 v6 150 Johnson seahorse mid section. Thank you in advance for any help you may give.436263

Crossflow. Looks early 80s. Give me a model number and I'll look it up and give you the exact year. Some parts will swap with the 78 and some won't. 77 and 78 were transition years. 79 up they are the same. 235s and 2.6 XP/GT you will need the adapter as the exhaust is different.

+1 on the crossflow early eighties. If its a flatback exhaust......verses a rounded exhaust.......aka bubble back, then its either a 150, 175, or 200. It should bolt up. Like previously stated, the 235 has a different adapter............hence the bubble back exhaust. an engine core plug should say something like e150txc#$......the last two symbols being actual letters. The e is evinrude, 150 the hp, t for power trim, x for 25 inch shaft, c is for the eighties, and the next letter will tell what year in the eighties...like one or two. It may even be a 1980 as well.
