I agree... that's why i said on video, that GOD took care of us... it's a really scare situation, and i really don't want to go thru this again..

Wow that happened so fast. How do you avoid blowout? I've had paddle wheeling pretty bad and that was super freaky

You can recover the boat track after a prop blowout with instant slightly and precise corrections, don’t releasing the foot from gas pedal, etc... this is the theory part, lol...

During blowout my understanding is the prop loses bite and the hull drops into the drink which unsettles the tea kettle because of the high speeds involved. Is that accurate?

If so the solve is to restore prop bite which the only way/s I can think of are to shake the wheel a bit and trim down perhaps? I have limited jack plate experience but mine moves fairly slow so I can't see dropping engine height as any effective solution but a little trim down wheel wiggle action would be quick and easy to do so is this wise or whats the playbook here? I want to visualize the best methods repeatedly before I get my speed up higher.

thanks

Lake Fever, I bet there is no time to do anything about it, looks like it happens fast! I don't understand why a lab finished et would loose bite on that flat calm water either. I run my Action fast with a merc et prop and have never even thought about blow out. Now I cant get it off my mind, but at 90 to 100 mph I bet there is nothing we can do if it happens. I just would like to know how to prevent it from happening in the first place!

That makes two of us. I was pushing my set up over the limit many times during test runs and it was paddle wheeling and dropping down into the drink quite a bit pending engine height and trim. My set up is slow I dont think it will crest 60mph as it sits and most of the negative effects seemed to happen around 50mph. Once I got the hang of it I found an engine height that seems to work, and barely any trim and its all good now. I am years away from pushing for high speeds but I sure would like to know the warning signs or experiences from others who may be able to offer some insight.

At the 2;22 mark in video he states this has happened more than 20 times! That's crazy to keep pushing a ill handling boat that fast when you know it will blow out on you! I guess he learned the hard way that his boat has a handling issue!

Don't forget about the massive weight and combined high CG that comes along with that setup def amplified the problem and or was the problem , maybe too fat gearcase combined with steering inputs led to blowout then the high CG rolled the boat ?

How ever it did it it was quick and no time to do nething but maybe let out gas , no trimmin ,nothin. I've never been 100 and my.boat prob wont ever see it but pushin low ,mid 80s and tryin go 90 here and there , well I'll say I'm still growing a set and easing into it , Ive been speed freak all my life and didnt want nething that wasnt fast , but when I started messin with boats ,was just diff kinda fast , and really cant tell when a blow out is comin ,so cant really prepare urself. Glad you guys made it out so lucky, be safe

Cats don't like the weight typical tournament fisheads carry.
