Most electric stuff, great as it is, works like batteries. Only so many electrons till it goes dead and can’t be brought back. Especially capacitors or other charge holding circuits.

The load on them burns them up quick

way way way way back we even repaired them with new electric parts.

Is it a water cooled regulator or the air cooled rectifier on the side of the engine? If it's the rectifier, you can make a heat sink for it out of a beer (or soda) can....

It's the water cooled on top under fly wheel. I did use the 10 amp but it only lasted about a year.

The companies changed how they make batteries a couple years ago and it plays hell with them causing premature failure. Call CDI, they have a list of "good" batteries.

I dint remember the specifics on what changed but we had a boat that was burning them up every 6 months. Didnt matter the brand. Battery was good and in "spec" swapped to a different battery and it's been good so far

Built in amperage protecting. Agm and dry can only take about 2 amps without swelling so they started adding circuits to them.
