Having just read an article on the 5.0 n/a coyote crate engine that makes over 500 hp. We all know this is mild daily driver engine. This shows me that the 4.6 outboard should be making just north of 500 too, over 1000 with boost. Same basic architecture. Am i wrong for thinking the 300r is a Poofter?
Sure would like a 500 hp 15 inch shaft outboard on my 21 Obsession

The current coyote has 12/1 compression, direct injection, variable cam timing, and variable intake manifold geometry. That’s a lot more technology, cost, and weight.

Apples to oranges in my opinion. But if you want to get technical the hp per pound is going to be WAY closer.

I would think the 300r more closely resembles the older DOHC 4.6 mustang cobra engines circa 1996-2001 which were rated right around 305-320 hp. Right on par hp-wise and those 4.6 mustang engines were pretty soft on the low end unlike the 300r which seems to have good low end tq.

I stand corrected, maybe some day.

You forgot to mention the 10-speed transmission...

Save your pennies. Its gonna take a lot of them but my guess is that its coming our way. This 4.6 platform has so many opportunities awaiting for a mad scientist like Dave Bush or the guys at Lingenfelter Engineering to start tweaking on. Very exciting times ahead for sure- I am waiting to see the first 150 N20 kit installed-you know its coming soon.

Hey hydro, now that we have the torque to support a two speed??? Maybe the sump needs to come on board and make room for little powerglide...

I don’t know about a coyote as an outboard but it’s sure gets my boat to ramp just fine.

Don't need the bell housing or converter .. :nonod:
The case is pretty big considering the size of the parts inside .. :)
Don't need two reverse gears either, one or the other could get small ... quick .. :D

Would just need a barrel shaped case with female input splines. Output could be coupled to current driveshaft to lower unit.
Need high gear clutch pack to provide 1:1 ratio. Planetary set and band to lock 1:80 low gear. Same power steering pump on motor may supply enough fluid and pressure to unit. Or go with the basic transfer case mechanical setup. 2:1 ratio then pull cable and lock it in 1:1. A gear vendors overdrive setup is also a possible option. Gear vendor changes things. 1:1 then shift to .78:1 overdrive ratio.
