Sold my 23 Eliminator Daytona ...moving to a
31 American Offshore 2006 with twin merc 496HO's
Anyone have any good or bad to add about this
boat ?
In my research...the boat is a solid build good runner.
Only bad ive heard is it tends to hop at speeds between 70 and 80. I guess being the boat doesnt have the power to push thru it and get to high 80s or 90.
We travel quite a bit in the great lakes and this is one of the only cat boats ive found with a cabin...
Pretty Trick !
Thank you
Bart

First of all, congratulations on your new boat. Second, given that it's a larger I/O hull, you might find better responses over on Offshore Only.

500 a side gets them to where they need to be.

I know there were a few of them that ran around Lk. Cumberland that were fast but I think they all had some big power on board. Is the deck all non skid? the one that sticks out in my mind was. Should be a fun boat to run West shoreline with.

Nice hull, enjoy the reliability what does it have for drives? The speed itch is gonna start nagging you soon so keep an eye out for more power. Obviously will be very costly and will most likely need new drives to handle the power. We're talking big money now but at least you can recoup some money with your current setup

Bravo XR Drives
Not sure i will want more power
Would like to leave these motors stock....totally
screws with the value when you start adding blowers, whipple chargers, etc
However...wouldnt mind running trip digits !

The 23 Daytona went to Illinois...
Good guy, clean freak....takes care of his stuff.
Made me feel better about giving it away.

I would think its 80mph boat.It is a full tunnel hull and will porpoise when water is flat but when 3-4 footers the boat will shine and eat .

Correct...owner said mid 80s right conditions 2 people.
I just couldn't run more than 3 footers with the daytona...not enough freeboard.

Remember them at Chicago IMTEC Marine Trade Shows, first few years they came out, back in about 1990ish. They learned quite a bit by talking with all the others builders there. Nice guys, but boy... One thing that I remember that stuck out, was all their trim tab & drive trim tab pumps were plumbed with automotive steel brake lines of various lengths. The glass work got a bit better over time as well.

XR drives should be good to 600 hp, plenty of upgrade space for you.

Mercury Integrated Transom System (ITS)...Nice setup for that boat. If the X-dimension is good, you have a boat with a lot of future potential, if you so desire. If not, that's o.k. too.

Congrats Bart,

Should be a good rig to get you down to the power plant and or North to G.H. & Musk. for some dinner runs:thumbsup:. I do miss running the West shoreline.

Thanks Joe
Yes...the East coast of Lake MI is awesome cruising.
Plenty of ports to hop in and out.
Short run to Chicago for a day trip.

Hard to find a cat boat with a usable cabin.
This one...port door is the head, stb door is the cabin, bed in top of tunnel carpeted and storage all the way to the forks.
