Look at the size of the cat they’re building... and expecting 50knot cruise speeds!!! Wow. I love how the guys are standing in the sponsons haha. Anyone know more details of this unfinished boat? Those surface drives are gorgeous. I can’t imaggine the price of one propeller alone.

Little more research- it’s called the XSV20 thunder child 2, built by safe haven. It’s purpose is to break the trans Atlantic record.
Cool how both port engines spin opposite each other, same as the starboard engines.

How about that reverse angle of entry on the bow. It sure looks like it works well in cleaving the waves open. How would that work on a shorter boat?

Doesn't work on little boats lol. The wave piercing bow design must be very long, and very lightweight. All the weight has to be Aft. I learned this from a documentary about bow designs. Notice the bow of this boat is completely empty.
That same documentary said the shipping companies were saving about a million dollars per trip on the tankers/freighters by slowing down from 20knots to 16 knots.
