For sale is a Mercury 1150 115hp outboard motor. Motor runs good and has good compression. It needs a lower unit, clicks when put into reverse. Hours are unknown and used in freshwater. Not sure of the year, but my dad thinks it's a 1970?

Looking at the serial # and the old mercs website, it appears to be a 1971.

I think you are correct on the year. 1970 Mercury big engines were a 100 and 125. in 1971 they had a 115 and 135. FYI 1971 was the last year for the red stripe engines except for the XS series that came out later in thew 70's.
