Raymond Jefferies and Freddie Gale

This was back in the early '60's
Raymond worked for Brady Marine in San Antonio and raced Merc's. Freddie had his own boat and engine repair business in College Station and raced Koenigs. They were rivals!

my dad, bud babbitt, bought his first tunnel boat from freddie's marine dealership in college station, i think it was called a DUO, we lived in bryan, tx right nearby and he worked on his boats at freddie's shop. the other guy my dad raced with was jim foreman who also spent alot of time at freddie's..

Freddie and Raymond were NOT friendly competitors. I've helped hold 'um apart. I lived in Austin and Raymond and I were buds. I remember Lee Richter and some of those other guys. Lee sold a boat to a friend of mine and me and then wanted to take out life insurance on us.
Also remember Jerry Wilhoit. I spoke to him about a year ago. He wasn't racing but was building engines for his grandson who was.
