View Full Version : Franzen Marine - Tampa, Fl...?????
Hey guys, I am coming to the end of my boat build and have been shopping around for an OB.
There not much to choose from in my area, so I've been looking where the water is.
Franzen Marine in Tampa, Fl. is got one (used) I have been looking at.
My question to you pro's out there, any one ever deal with this business?
good , bad,,,,??? Hate to drop a bucket of $ into a bad deal!
How his work??
Any reviews would be much appreciated!
(This is NOT an advertisement for him, just looking for some feedback on this biz)
Thanks in advance!

What OB motor are you looking for?
Its not any particular OB I'm looking, but I need/want 200-225 hp, 20" mid and the PRICE is within my budget.
Sure we'll all like to have a ProMax but I just can't afford one right now and I'm wanting to get this on the water this summer.
Merc, Yah, Honda OB would be find, but I also I must watch my weight. This OB is going on a DIY tunnel hull
I built from scratch. We have lots of lakes in my area but there not of OB sales (used)/repair shops here, which is a little weird.
Ill checkout the links you provided.

Any pics of your boat /build?
Sure, give me a few days, as all my pics are on a different harddrive. I built a new computer few
months back and haven't transferred anything over yet.
The build is actually a Hal Kelly design, Aqua Rod, but its been highly modified.
Ill get some pics up asap.

Den I know Brian the owner at Franzen marine. Have done a couple transactions with him for motors. He is a stand up guy and most motors that he sells have warranty or the option of some sort of warranty. Replaced 3 ecm’s on a buddy’s 225 Yamaha and had no fight to get them replaced

Basically it's a salvage yard so there is guarantee on what condition the motor you are buying is in. With that said Brian does have a pretty good reputation for standing behind what he sells. I have a close friend who bought a pair of OX66 Yamaha's about 8 years ago from Franzen. I helped him hang them and they are still on his boat running today.

Bought a 90 Merc from Brian about 6 yrs ago and still running strong. Best price in the country! Drove from SC to get it!
Excellent!! That's exactly what I want to hear. " A Good Reputation !! " Thanks for posting that guys.
Merc 2.5. Sorry for the late pic reply. In my new computer build a few months back, I can not find the hard drive (or partition) all my pic are in ...... !
I have lost 100's of building pics, not to mention other stuff. As for the boat build, I did go a an old group I was in and there was a few pics there I had uploaded.
There is not many but I did get them and save. I have post a few here.
I have done a lot of work since these pics were taken, but @ least you get the jest of what I am building.
