Supposedly it allowed you to trim the motor up far enough to be completely out of the water. The OMC engineers somehow forgot about waves, wakes, salt air, etc. Good thing they got everything else they touched right! Yea, it was an awesome idea.

Steering, setback bracket, and engine all built into one unit and the ability to mount to a completely flat, y’all transom. Execution and probably marketing were poor. I can see where it had it’s place, though.

1. More room in the boat, at that time it made many small boats feel bigger.
2. Full transom in a following sea.
3. Some boats liked the added set back. Gill brackets were in style at the same time.
...maybe the idea could be better refined today. The 80’s OMC Lineup wasn’t as bad as most think.

This is one of the most dangerous things that is done with Navy small boats, underway launch and recovery. Often done with the ship moving at 3-5 knots. There is a choreography to the evolution that if done wrong usually results in catastrophic accident. While with the small boat division of NAVSEA we investigated several fatal launch accidents. This boat is being launched from a carrier, which normally launches while stopped. The guys holding the knotted lines are holding the "monkey ropes" so if the boat is dropped you hang onto them to keep from falling with it.

...1980's cougar catamaran offshore race boat... i see it uses lathams first generation chrome over brass tube steering cylinders, the shorter 7'' versions they made. also before latham offered/made clevis rod ends, they just used regular rod ends like in this photo. many years later they finally switched to stainless tube cylinder designs & started manufacturing they're own design clevis rod ends, which were a big improvement. probably rolla multi-blade cleavers, made in italy, as they were about the only ones making them back then...

Don't know about the tank , but since it's basically a 21 Superboat with 13' built out front .. makes it look to "stubby" in the back for my liking. Maybe it's the picture, but it looks like the cabin area is even smaller than my old 21'. :cool:

Have to give Nordic credit for what they are experimenting with. They run a SR-21 with the monster 1350 in it and wave busters.

Rotohead used to run his 21 Tuff in big water and it went over 100. The 34 looks narrow, low drag.

Being that the Tuff 28 w/single 860/6-drive pulled 137, with another 500 HP and only 6’ (2m for our Canadian friends ;)), I’m predicting if the bottom on the new Tuff 34 is as good or better than the 28, it’ll run 148-156 once they get it dialed.

I hope for their sake it has manners and isn’t an evil b!tch, because hanging out at a buck and a half with one skeg and no counter rotating prop is dancing with the devil.

Silver Springs is over one hour north of Orlando Florida, and was a major tourist attraction.
But when Disney World open in the 1970's, the tourist attraction for Silver Springs started declining.

I remember going there in the 1960's waiting in line to get on the glass bottom boat, but in this video the current tourist traffic is way down. It reminds me of Cypress Gardens and other water ski shows declining too.
