View Full Version : 300xs power head on 300x mid
Curious if anyone knows correct base gaskets for the top and bottom side of the pan for power head removal on a 300xs power head on a 300x mid? Almost looked like it was gasket 832934006 on both sides? Just purchased engine and disassembled for mid paint. Thanks Ryan
Do you have the adapter plate ?
If so, just use XS gaskets.
If not, it's really more about getting cool water from inside the second wall ( just in front of exhaust ports ) to feed the compressor ...

Then putting it back just below the fitting and dropping it out thru a hole in the oblong rectangle beside ( above ) the ex port ...

So it can exit here ...

Thanks for the help think I figured out the gaskets but only odd thing was they put gasket sealant around exhaust tuner on both sides of pan plate? Never did that on the 2.5s?
There is a gasket that goes between each of those parts you mentioned. And they go in dry unless there has been a service bulletin stating otherwise.
The 3.0L blocks ( newer they are , worse they get) are made out of some really great  almost aluminium that rots fairly easy. Check and deal with your mating surfaces, might be a reason for at least some of that sealer ... :)

And yes 2.5's do it too ....

Ok ordered wrong gaskets the one on the left is what they had on both sides of pan plate which restricted certain ports and did not look correct to me? The new gasket on the right looks perfect according to my pan plate. Let me know what ya think? If New styles is correct to u would appreciate part number thanks Ryan
Let me know what ya think?
Well, for starters. "I think" you never said which adapter plate you were using ...
Previous owner said his mechanic put 300xs powerhead on 300x mid. So I assume it is a modified 300x tuner.

Tuner will have nothing to do with what gasket you use between powerhead and pan. The adapter or "exhaust plate" you have pictured is from an Optimax engine.

Since you have an Opti "everything" stay with Opti specified gaskets.
Even though the dowel pins ( # 9 ) are the same part number between the X and XS sometimes they will get installed at different hight's. Since you are using two gaskets and a stainless base pan make sure you have sufficient engagement in the block to keep the two from "swimming around" leading to early gasket failure .. ;)

Has anyone talked about power head bolts? If I recall when I went to an alien cowl I had to lengthen the studs but it might have been because of my wing plate. Just in case I used all thread from Mc Master Carr.
Ok guys So i will need two 27-832933006 gaskets and check dowel Pin height thanks for the help
